I just finished writing this for a client.
T2B Progressions
Beat swing 2-3 x 6
Kip 2-3 x 5
Kipping Knee Raise 2-3 x 4
Kipping Knees-point-to-bar 2-3 x 3
Kipping T2B single 2-3 x 1
Kipping T2B 3-5 x max reps < 5
It may seem like hieroglyphics to most, but I know it’s the fastest way to get her to solid kipping Toes-To-Bar.
Bodybuilders who competed in the 1980s and 90s, people like Scott Wells and Chuck Siska, taught me, “Give people what they want, not what they think they want.”
Most of us think we want to do what we’re good at.
It’s a formula to develop holes in your fitness.
My client has a hell of an aerobic engine. So, we spent months working on weaknesses.
Today? Sandbag and gymnastic skills.
Tomorrow? Heavy Sandbag and gymnastic skills.
Next week? Fast and heavy Sandbag and gymnastic skills.
My hope is that she hates sandbags so much that she becomes used to them. Then, she’ll be good at them. Then she’ll have been reprogrammed to think she wants to do sandbag work.
Because I know the key, specific to unlocking her athletic growth, is grueling, brute strength development. A rising tide lifts all boats, and the sandbag is her tide.
To give her some icing on the cake, We do some of what she wants, as long as it aligns with her goals. For her it’s toes-to-bar.
We started by learning how to hold a 50lb bag, and hang from the pull-up bar.
Last week, she lifted the 150lb bag twice in a session.
This week, we’re coming for T2B.
And her fitness has improved in leaps and bounds because we kept hammering what works, instead of what was cool. The cherry on top of the cake? She’s PR’ing every aerobic event without us touching aerobic work.
Did you know we do sessions like this for all of our clients? It’s one way of getting you there faster.
You can book them anytime.
