Have you ever met someone you had expectations of, only to have those expectations surpassed in some way?
Reading is kinda like that.
Realising that the guy making your coffee actually toured with your favorite band as a sound engineer is kinda like reading a Stephen King novel to find a paragraph that brings understanding to a situation you struggle with. Or a Kid’s book that kicks you right in the feelz and gives you goosebumps.
Neither meant to be so resonant to you specifically. It just happens when you are present and allow the messages of others to sink in.
Movies gave us escapism from life outside the theater for an hour.
When TV’s became home appliances – we were glued to just a few programs and HAD to watch only those.
With Cable, we flipped channels until we declared that “there is nothing on!”
Netflix allows us to do the same thing for 10 minutes before binge-watching 3 seasons of Game of Bones. (You know the one)
Reading may be one of the oldest ways of consuming information. But I don’t see it going out of style anytime soon.
Stop thinking about Game of Bones. I knew you were still thinking about it.
