If I sold ladies’ dresses.
Those dresses would have pockets. (Men, dresses with pockets are a big deal.)
But more importantly, I’d sell the dress that makes my customer look amazing. Not the dress that’s on sale.
I’ve recieved a lot of flak for not being “on sale.”
Sometimes people prefer to decide whether they need some 1v1 attention.
The “on sale” gym does anything to close them, even if it’s not safe, even if it means not holding a standard. And, inevitbly after their first 1v1 session, “holy f*ck” or somehting similar leaves their mouth, as they realize they didn’t know what they didn’t know.
Sometimes a client wants to do a full Keto diet, even though last week they ate the Lord’s Chicken three times (that’s Chick-fil-A if you’re not in the South). The “on sale” coach says, “Got it, I can help with that!”
But I’ll say something like “What if you ate whole foods this week, but kept the Chi-Fil-A on Thursday and had dinner with a friend on Saturday? Can you do that?”
If they can hold that change, we can look at holding Keto- if they even need it by that point. (They usually don’t.)
And sometimes, “on sale” looks like charging what the competitor charges, so people join on price.
But I don’t. Because we’d have to provide what our competitors provide, and I’m just not okay with that.
It’s not that others charge less.
We just do way more.
There’s a reason behind it all. Sometimes someone doesn’t want that, or they’re cool but see all CrossFits as the same. And it’s a bummer, but that’s showbiz, baby.
And I’d rather be known as the most expensive place in town than the budget place in town.
In the meantime, I want you to feel like you can stand up a little taller when you say you come here. When you say you’re part of the place that does “so much more.”
