Fitness is a lot like swinging a golf club.
If a newer golfer (or putt-putt player) wants to hit her ball into the hole, she doesn’t need the newest club, or the nicest cart and bag to transport it.
She needs to learn how to set up and hit a good ball.
If she can do that, she can probably get on the green most of the time with any club you hand her, rain or shine.
Golfing and fitness are less about “what is the newest, latest thing?” and more about “What do I need to do NOW?

“What do I need right NOW?”
It’s the shoes you’re wearing.
