The Open with Coach Destanee

The Open taught me that Crossfit doesn’t make you an elite athlete; it meets you right where you are. I was sixteen and awestruck at these amazing athletes’ moving weights bigger than me. That was my first view of the open. Watching from my phone screen in my tiny bedroom, I started dreaming of being able to do those things.

So I started doing what I could. I was flipping tires in my yard and pressing concrete blocks over my head. That led me to where I am now.
This year, I get to fulfill sixteen-year-old Destannee’s dream of taking on the open!

I may not be an elite athlete, but that doesn’t matter- ANYONE can do the open. I’m so excited to do tough shit with my WLRCF crew. Will you do it?
